Google’s Waze exec Di-Ann Eisnor collaborated with Lupe Fiasco to create Neighborhood Start-up Fund; a neighborhood-specific fund to support entrepreneurs and start-ups in underserved areas. Brownsville, Brooklyn is the first neighborhood they will visit and the live pitch event will be held on November 13, 2015 at the Dream Big Foundation’s entrepreneurship center. Some excited Brownsville natives are already pitching new ideas to Eisnor. Some of the ideas proposed include a subscription box service, a ride-share service for seniors, and an on-demand beauty service. Neighborhood Start-up Fund’s goal is to create a $100 million company out of their one million-dollar fund. They are putting half of the profits back into the neighborhoods to give them an opportunity to grow, and hope to reach a dozen neighborhoods by the end of 2016. You can read the full article here.
